We have discussed the merits of Kodi vs Plex on the podcast before. Both have their pros and cons. How-to-geek seems to be leaning towards the Plex route. I can’t blame them. They are some pretty good reasons depending on your needs. For local playback only, I still feel that Kodi can’t be beat. If you are looking for multiple devices, then Plex may be a better solution.
It looks like people are enjoying CarPlay and Android Auto. A recent survey says the people that have that system use them about 30% of the time.

I remember when this do it all little media player first appeared on the market. It was far outside of my budget at that time. I later had the means, but not the motivation. I finally made it to a point in my life where I had a dedicated theater room again, and the Oppo player was pre-ordered as soon as it was announced. It am sure that I don’t use half of the potential of the Oppo 203. Oppo says they will continue to support it for a while, so hopefully a few more updates to polish it off and say goodbye.

Good article, but I wouldn’t give DirecTv Now an ‘A’ without the DVR service up and running yet.

Good article about streaming media players. They do leave out the shield, which I think is a major player if you are talking about the price of an apple TV. I think the Roku Streaming Stick+ is the best bang for the buck. The FireTV player is fast and cheap, but I am not a fan of the interface.
